Johnny Heller (Guitar): A recovering Sonny Rollins pageboy, Heller brings a jazzman’s harmonic sense leavened with a deep obsession for the spiritual warmth latent in the old songs of Uncle Dave Macon, the Carter Family, Watson Family, and Iron and Wine.
Michael Mechanic (Guitar): Trained on classical piano, Mechanic has served in past lives as a keyboardist and a punk-rock drummer with local bands like Juke and The Gods Hate Kansas. Now he’s returned to the music of southern Vermont, where his mother was raised and where every party turns into an old-time jam session.
Andrew “Handy Andy” Waegel (banjo, resonator guitar): Handy Andy was born on the outskirts of Wilmington, DE, with no appreciable connection to Country Music except for a dubious proximity to the Mason-Dixon line. A youth misspent in a competitive drumline as a rebellious snareman evolved to a deep love for this most American of musics following a stint living on the east coast and meeting Kitty Wells in person at a race track in Virginia. Handy Andy is former pedal steel player for the Nu-Tone Wranglers and currently plays with the classic California Country band Lariats of Fire.
Chris Xiques (Bass): Blessed with a worldview as wise and whimsical as his musical appetite, Chris anchors the band with tarmac-inspired bass playing and vocal leadership. Also a former member of the Nu-Tone Wranglers, Chris is also involved with the innovative bay area Immersion Composition Society.
